We have worked closely with Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School over many years, initially providing cabling services, HP switches and support. This developed to include wireless, with a new site-wide solution that delivered improved coverage and performance.
Over the years, Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School appreciated our prompt, professional but friendly advice, that has delivered a reliable ICT service for teaching/learning.
“Having worked with Topological for over 6 years it was an easy choice to choose them to replace our CCTV system. They have always been a pleasure to work with and offer honest and reliable advice as well as first class support”Neil Barnett – Strategic ICT Manager
CCTV Migration from Analogue to Digital
Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School had a legacy CCTV solution that utilised analogue internal and external cameras from two well used DVR recorders. Due to increasing support costs and failures that became harder to fix, an alternative solution was required.
As we had always offered very high levels of support and assistance, Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School were interested in their idea of migrating to IP technology, thus utilising their site wide network infrastructure for maximum flexibility.
Initially, a QNAP server storage solution with multiple hard-drives was fitted. This has management software that supports cameras from all major vendors. Now following the addition of many more cameras, due to the success of the project a second server has now been added to increase capacity.
To reduce initial expenditure, several legacy analogue cameras were transferred onto the IP infrastructure using encoders and these included the PTZ (pan tilt zoom) external cameras that covered sports pitches and car parks, although these have been replaced.
Benefits
Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School has gradually upgraded their old analogue system to a new IP based system that allows improved management, enhanced image quality, greater flexibility, improved reliability and lower support costs.
